Where is the file while this happens?
On your computer. Reading, comparing and building the PDF all happen inside the browser. The site has no server that receives documents; the address only delivers the page. After the first visit, Conferam opens and compares Word files even without internet.
What is saved stays in your browser, and only if you want it. Recent comparisons, decisions, notes and tags stay in local storage, with an option to turn saving off and a button to delete everything.

Did the clause disappear or just move?
Conferam tells the two apart. Identical text in another position is marked as Moved text; text that is gone is marked as Deletion. A clause inserted in the middle renumbers the ones that follow, and each renumbering is labelled “renumbering only”.

Colour is never the only signal. Added text is underlined, removed text is struck through, and each point shows the name of its type in the list.
What happens to the table and the bold?
They stay where they are. Conferam draws the Word page as it is, with indents, line spacing, tables and bold, and marks over the words that changed. Bold applied to a liability clause shows up as Formatting, even when not one letter changed.

How does the comparison reach a partner or a client?
As a PDF, in three layouts: Side by side, Redline and Change report. Or as a Word file with tracked changes, for the other side to keep editing. Decisions, notes and tags on each point are printed. The document stands on its own, without Conferam.

Read Word, PDF, spreadsheets and slides
Word (.docx, .docm and the old .doc), OpenDocument (.odt), .rtf, PDF (including password-protected and scanned), Excel (.xlsx, .xlsm, .csv), PowerPoint (.pptx, .pptm), text and Markdown, or pasted text. A .docx can be compared with the PDF made from it.
The Word 97-2003 .doc comes in as text only. Old spreadsheets and slides (.xls, .ppt) must be saved in the current format first. Conferam explains how.
